About Me…

I love music! I enjoy listening to all types of music, singing, playing piano, and sharing music with others. My hope is to instill the same love of music in my students by teaching them how to play the piano.

I grew up loving the piano and singing, and started piano lessons at an early age, going on to earn my grade 10 piano certificate from the Royal Conservatory of Music. For a few years I wanted to quit but my parents encouraged me to keep at it and I'm glad I did! I was able to reach a level of proficiency that allowed me to do what I wanted, and it became very rewarding. But most importantly I learned how to persevere and work hard to achieve my goals.

Later, I earned my BRE/mus from Prairie College while studying piano with Dr. Dale Wheeler, and then I worked at Impromptu Music Studios in Edmonton Alberta, learning a lot from the studio director. I taught over 40 students each year, in addition to doing much of the administration work. I eventually bought the studio and ran it successfully for a few years before slowing down to focus on raising a family. I now live in the Plenty/Dodsland area with my husband and 4 children and have grown my studio to around 30 students in Plenty and Kindersley.

I continue to learn more about music and teaching and most recently, I completed the Teaching Elementary Piano Course through the Royal Conservatory of Music and became a certified Elementary Music Teacher. I have become involved with the West Central Branch of the Registered Music Teachers Association and enter students in the Kindersley Music Festival and RCM exams.

I have over 25 years of experience teaching piano and theory lessons to students ranging from beginners to grade 9 RCM, from preschoolers to adults. I have accompanied soloists and choirs, and played in church and for events. I am happiest when I am making music and love sharing it with my students.
